FAQ

01

Booking

  • Car sharing is possible and a nice way to split the cost of renting one of our cars. However, if an opportunity arises (e.g. two people asking independently to share a same car type for the same date) then this could also be possible.
    Should you be interested in sharing a car, please leave us a message with the car type that you would like to share and the date that you would like to attend.

  • No. Motorsport is a very expensive activity including many cost components (cars, truck and trailer, professional equipment, labor, insurance, high track entry fees,…) and our prices are calculated fairly. As a reminder, contrary to our competitors, everything is included in the price you pay.
    You will not be asked for a single supplement during or after the track day.

    We are willing to provide Quality and Client Service; this inevitably comes at a cost…

  • Yes we can (additional fees for transportation and administration apply). When our staff contacts you to confirm the booking, we will ask you whether transportation is needed and will inform you about the related costs.

  • Yes we can (additional fees for accommodation and administration applies). When our staff contacts you to confirm the booking, we will ask you whether accommodation is needed and will inform you about the related costs. Warning: hotels around the track are usually quickly fully booked the night before track days – we would thus advise you to book your events as soon as possible in the year.

  • Yes – you will be asked to show it upon your arrival.

  • 23 years old with a valid ‘B’ driving license – except if approved in writing by us.

    • For Lotus 3-11: maximum height is 205 cm (6”7”);
    • For Ferraris 458 and 488 Challenge: maximum height is 200 cm (6”5”).

D2P Academy days and Program

  • On a ‘standard’ D2P track day, you will be allowed to drive by yourself as soon as our professional instructors consider that you are able to do so.

    On a ‘D2P Academy’ track day, our instructors will accompany you more closely during the day. After each of your driving session, they will debrief the session with you and explain to you how your driving skills and techniques may be improved.

  • No, D2P is not but we would be happy to provide you with the details of an organisation in your country that would be allowed to grant it (e.g. in Belgium, this is the RACB.)
    Should you join the D2P Academy Program, we will organize your license test with our partner in Belgium and would pay for the exam fee for your first exam (should you fail, the next one(s) will be paid by you). The fees for the exam do not include the car renting for the day of your exam – this would be a normal D2P track day from your pool of bought days or a day to be paid in isolation.

    • When acquiring your first 5-days pack, you will receive your own bespoke D2P – with your name printed – driving suit, helmet; shoes and gloves (and you will be allowed to keep these after the training program);
    • D2P will pay for your first license exam fees to the FIA-approved organization that will organise the exam (to a maximum of EUR 800 – the price for an ‘International A’ license exam in Belgium);
    • The cancellation policy is far less restrictive than our standard cancellation policy – you will be allowed to cancel your participation to the planned event, by email to booking@d2p.lu, up to 72 hours before the start of an event (i.e. at the latest at 08:00 am, 72 hours before the event). Should you cancel later than 72 hours before the start of an event, a penalty of EUR 1,500 (+ VAT if applicable) will apply;
    • You will have priority for your bookings – those Clients who have purchased a ‘5 Days Track Pack” will be informed of our calendar and calendar changes 24 hours ahead of other users (except for ‘Last Minute Deals’);
    • D2P will pay for your first license exam fees to the FIA-approved organization that arranges the exam (to a maximum of EUR 800 – the price for an ‘International A’ license exam in Belgium);
  • No, except if you pay for the difference in cost to change from one car model to another.

Before the track day

    • Off-track and during the booking process; we can communicate in writing/speaking in: English, French, Luxembourgish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Lithuanian, Russian and Polish;
    • On-track, during the track day event: we can communicate in: English, French, German, Italian, Luxembourgish and Dutch.
  • You are expected at the track at 8am as there are quite a number of things to be done before you can start driving (attend the (sometimes) mandatory organizer briefing, our own briefing, dress up preparation,…). We would do our utmost to allow you to start the day on time, but this cannot be guaranteed

  • Yes – our professional staff will be with you at the beginning of your driving session, they will be there to reassure you and to tell you how to behave

    • ‘Open pitlane’ track day: the track is opened for the whole day between 9 am (or 10 am for some organisers) and 12 pm and then between 1 pm and 6 pm (5 pm after November 1st of each year) – you are free to access the track whenever you want;
    • ‘Sessions’ track days: the track is opened for the whole day between 9 am (or 10 am for some organisers) and 12 pm and then between 1 pm and 6 pm (5 pm after November 1st of each year) – you can go on-track for sessions of approximately 30 minutes (30 minutes off-track, 30 minutes on-track).

    Will I drive less on an ‘Open Pitlane’ track day than on a ‘Sessions’ track day?

    No. In fact, experience tells us that you may drive even more on a ‘Sessions’ track day as the rhythm is set by the different sessions. In an ‘Open pitlane’ track day, you can be distracted, lose the ‘rhythm’ of the day (although we will be there to remind it to you) and drive less than in a ‘Sessions’ track day. Furthermore, from a physical and mental point of view, it is challenging (read: not recommended) to drive on a track for more than four hours in a single day.

  • No, half-day bookings are not available. However, you can book one car for 2 drivers for a day (only available for ‘open pitlane’ days).

  • Your deposited Insurance Excess will be frozen until an independent expert designated by the insurance company estimates the amounts of the damages (usually within a two-week timeframe). Should the amount of the damages exceed the amount of the Insurance Excess, the corresponding amount will be kept by D2P.

  • Most of the tracks that we are visiting are Formula 1 tracks and always have a doctor present on-site. Should this not be the case, we would rely on local emergency services.

04

During the track day

  • 08:00 am – arrival on the track
    08:00 am – 09:00 am: security briefing, D2P briefing, dress up, introduction to the equipment and car
    09:00 am – 12.00 pm: driving time (some organisers only start their track day at 10:00 am);
    12:00 pm – 01.00 pm: lunch break
    01:00 pm – 06:00 pm: driving time
    06:00 pm – 07:00 pm: drink(s)*

    *This schedule may vary according to the track and to the season of the year.

  • In one word: nothing except your driver’s license. We will supply all racing clothes, helmets, shoes, drinks, food and anything you may need during the day.

    Just bring your passion for track driving and we will provide the rest.

  • No. These are considered normal track day events. However, if this were to lead for more than one hour of driving time penalty for our Clients, we would reimburse 15% of the track day fees

  • No. These are considered as normal track day events.

  • No. These are considered as normal track day events

  • Yes, if you are under the influence of any forbidden substance (alcohol, drugs). You must know that for insurance purposes you will have to sign a confirmation that you are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We may have to ask you to pass a breath test (for alcohol) or a mouth swab (for drugs) test to check that you are fit to drive. Should you be positive for any of the above-mentioned substances, you will not be allowed to drive on that day and no reimbursement will be made by D2P.

  • Yes – should you receive two black flags for bad behavior on track by the track staff, you will not be allowed to drive any longer and there is nothing we can do to influence this decision. Furthermore, you will not be allowed to drive any more on that day and no reimbursement will be made for the track day by D2P.

  • It depends:

    • If you are a first time Client: our instructors will be with you in the car to assess your level of driving skills. This will be the deciding factor in letting you drive alone straight away. This decision is entirely at their discretion;
    • If you are a returning Client and you were allowed to drive alone with the same car in the past, you will be allowed to drive alone from the beginning of the day. However, we always advise you to go with our instructors to improve your driving technique;

    If you are willing to join the D2P Academy, the instructor will accompany you for most of the day as the goal of the D2P Academy is to improve during each event. You will, however, drive alone for the regularity test (and more if you want and in agreement with the instructor – decision to be made on a case-by-case basis).

  • Yes it is, very much so…
    During a normal day at work (office work), a standard person will burn around 2,500 calories throughout the day. On a track day, the same person will burn between 4,500 and 5,000 calories. This is thus very demanding

  • Without any doubt, the afternoon, even the late afternoon (as from 4pm). Two reasons for this:

    • The track is warmer, leading to warmer tires and thus better grip;
    • Many people leave the track early to go home, as a result, the two last hours of the day are usually the ones with less traffic.

    We thus strongly recommend our Clients to:

    • Be able to stay at the event until the end of it (usually 6 pm);
    • Keep energy and focus for the end of the track day – the potential danger is to exhaust yourself at the beginning of the day and to lose your focus at the end of it.
      Warning: A significant number of car crashes also happen at the end of track days as people are tired (read exhausted – this is a very physically demanding activity) and lose their attention. We thus strongly recommend that your effort is balanced in such a way that still have energy and focus at the end of your track day…
  • Without any doubt:

    • The first 30 minutes of any track day – everyone wants to go on track and the people who have never driven on a given track are running their first ever laps. This is the most dangerous time of the day.
      • The track is colder, leading to cold tires and thus less grip;
      • Many people are driving on the track, as a result, more traffic increases risk of accidents (especially with cold tires).
    • The first 30 minutes after lunchtime – there is usually a lot of traffic.
  • It depends on the option that you have chosen at the time of booking:

    • One driver per car: you can expect to drive a maximum of 6 hours during the day (our cars need to be in the pit a minimum of 30 minutes each 2 hours in a goal to allow the necessary cooling and mechanical checks). This being said, we do not recommend more than 4 to 4.5 hours of track driving a day or 250 km to 320 km. This is a very physical and mentally demanding activity. Driving pauses during the day are not only recommended but mandatory for your safety.
    • Two drivers per car (only for “Open Pitlane’ days): you can expect to drive a maximum of 3 hours during the day. Warning, the ‘Sessions’ track days are not available for ‘2 drivers per car booking’
  • This means that the noise limit is 107 dB when meter is at 0.5 meters away from each exhaust outlet (or in cases where the vehicle has two separated exhausts, from the center point between the two) at a 45 degrees angle both horizontally and vertically and the engine is at 75% of its maximum revs and 103 dB when the car is on the track (as measured by the ‘Race Control’ team of the track).

  • While our cars are maintained to the highest standards, mechanical issues/problems may happen at any time with racecars.
    In case of a mechanical issue, we will obviously do anything in our power to fix the mechanical problem within 30 minutes. Should we not be able to do this:

    • If the issue can be fixed between 30 minutes and one hour, we will reimburse you 10% of your registration fees;
    • In case the mechanical issue cannot be fixed within an hour and happens before noon, you will either be reimbursed in full or you will have the right to claim for another day to be agreed with D2P;
    • Should the mechanical issue cannot be fixed within an hour and happens after noon: you will get:
      • A 40% reimbursement if the mechanical failure happens before 03:30pm;
      • A 25% reimbursement if the mechanical failure happens after 03:30pm.
  • In theory, no. However, it can be discussed on the day if the car that you want to drive is available

  • The insurance included in your track day fees cover:

    • Any damage to the rented car above the Insurance Excess that you deposited;
    • Any damage that you cause to the track infrastructure;
    • A personal insurance providing the following:
      • In case of death: EUR 50,000;
      • In case of permanent invalidity: EUR 100,000;
      • In case of injury: EUR 2,500 of hospital fees

05

Cancellations

  • Yes, we could cancel a track day in case of:

    • Adverse weather conditions (snow, storm,…);
    • Act of God;
    • Non-availability of the car you were supposed to use (crashed recently, significant mechanical problem,…);
    • High number of cancellations on the track day you are supposed to attend;
    • Any other reason that would reasonably be out of our control.

    Should D2P cancel a track day, the Client will have the choice between a full reimbursement or a reschedule of the cancelled track day.

  • No, these events have to be paid at booking time and cannot be cancelled, reimbursed or rescheduled.

  • No, except if you have purchased at least one 5-Days Track Pack.

06
